Pre-study of hybrid solution with batteries and fuel cells.

Abtery have been selected by Energimyndigheten (Swedish Energy Agency) to participate in a pre-study of hybrid solutions with batteries and fuel cells.

GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN – (03/09/2020) - Abtery participates in a pre-study that aims to develop the next generation electric vehicle systems specifically adapted to the Nordic climate. The objective is to improve vehicle range and driving comfort by integrating fuel cells into the electric system and the respective heating system.

The project is a collaboration between Inzile, APR Technologies, Abtery AB, Gränges, myFC and research institute RISE that will take the project lead on the pre-study.

The project spans over eight months and will be financed commonly by the Swedish Energy Agency and the Industrial firms. The project scope is to develop a concept for the next generation electric powertrains for flexible electric vehicles adapted to the Nordic climate.

The goal is a system design that gives comfort by effective heating and extended range by smart integration between fuel cells and batteries. The fuel cells contribute in the electric system as a range-extender and in the heat management system to support heating of the battery system and assist start up in cold conditions.
